Client Aliases and Job Numbers
Why every client needs a three-letter alias, and how it builds your project numbers.
Every client in Jeevy has a short alias of exactly three letters, such as ABC. You set it when you create the client, including when you create one while adding a quote or a project. The alias is what makes a project number readable at a glance.
How project numbers are built
A project number joins four parts:

So the first project for client CFS created in January 2026 is CFS260101, and the second that month is CFS260102. The sequence starts again at 01 each month, for each client.
A client with no alias gets GEN in its place.
Quote numbers are different
Quotes do not use the alias. A quote number is JF followed by four digits, such as JF0004, assigned in order as quotes are created. Gaps in the sequence are normal.
When a quote becomes a project, the project gets its own number built from the client alias. The quote number does not carry over.
Moving a project to a different client renumbers that project in the same way.
Choosing a good alias
- Make it recognizable. Your team reads it on every job, so use letters that obviously mean the client.
- Keep it unique. Two clients sharing an alias produce job numbers that look like the same customer.

Where the number shows up
The project number appears in the Project Number column of the Projects ledger and on the project itself. Jeevy also recognizes project numbers in email replies, which helps route client and vendor mail to the right job.
