Building the bid

Build the customer-facing price by hand: line items, labour, tax and lead time, then generate the PDF or an email draft to send it.

For Estimators and managersUpdated

This is where you write the number the customer sees. You enter each line yourself - the screen does not read your material lists or your task hours, so what you send is a deliberate price rather than a total the app computed behind you.

A job can hold more than one quote

New Quote creates a bid, and a job can carry several. Price the work two ways, keep both, and pick from the dropdown at the top of the screen to switch between them. Nothing is overwritten, which is what makes a revised price safe to try.

Line items

Add line item appends an empty row. Fill in what it is, a description, the quantity and the unit price. Drag rows to reorder them; the order you leave them in is the order the customer reads.

Each line can also carry a labour breakdown, entered against that line rather than as one lump at the bottom. The total is the sum of every line's quantity times price, plus its labour, plus tax.

Lead time, in one place or many

A quote carries one lead time, and a line item can carry its own. The moment any line has one, the quote-level lead time is cleared - one job cannot promise two different dates, so the more specific answer wins and the general one is removed rather than left to contradict it.

Sending it

Generate PDF builds the document from the lines as they stand. Email Draft does the same as a message you can review before it goes.

What happens when the bid is won

Accepting the quote converts it to a project and carries the files, work streams and tasks across. See Quotes and projects compared for exactly what moves.
